By BBN Staff: Today, Minister of Transport and National Emergency Management, Edmond Castro, met with Cuba’s Ambassador to Belize, H.E. Lissette Pérez in Belmopan.
Besides serving as an introduction and familiarization between Castro and Perez, the meeting featured discussion on substantive matters of mutual interest.
Issues discussed included partnership and technical cooperation between Belize and Cuba in disaster management and fire-fighting.
In the area of fire-fighting, they specifically discussed upcoming training for two Belizean fire-fighters as part of a three-and-a-half week course for Caribbean and Central American countries to be conducted in Havana, Cuba from November 11-28, 2018.
Castro thanked Perez for her visit, expressing gratitude for all the assistance her country continues to provide Belize as the relationship between our two countries further deepens.
Castro was accompanied by his CEO in the Ministry of Transport and National Emergency Management, Ruth Meighan.
