Belize Territorial Volunteers announce solidarity with BNTU

Posted: Thursday, November 1, 2018. 4:56 pm CST.

BBN Staff: The Belize Territorial Volunteers ( BTV ) today issued a statement expressing solidarity with the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU).

” For too long now, teachers in this country have been blatantly exploited, especially the teachers in the Toledo District, who walk miles and miles to arrive at their job to take care and to educate our children,” the BTV explains.

The BTV says that it is time for the Government to give their due attention to our teachers who are preparing our future leaders of this country.

The  BTV is calling upon all its volunteers to stand in solidarity with the teachers by coming out in their green shirts and joining the teachers in their protest demonstrations.

BTV says that it is time for Belizeans to unite together and fight the crime and corruption that has infested our country.  “It is time that we take a stand to defend our patrimony.”

“The state of this nation requires our voice and input as Belizeans and it is our civic duty to bring to an end what this Government has been ignoring and the wrongs it has been committing,” the organization reiterated.

The BTV says that they are not asking the Government to spoon-feed us but instead; ” we are asking the Government of this country to do their job as elected officials of our country and to represent and meet the demands and needs of the people of this great country of ours.”
