The COMPOL spoke about an incident where the Belize Police Department had placed surveillance on 2 suspected Guatemalans reportedly involved in illegal activities.
Whylie stated that on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at 6 pm, a vessel arrived at the Princess Marina in Belize City and the 2 Guatemalans met with the occupants of the vessel.
On Thursday, November 1, 2018, an early morning police checkpoint on the George Price Highway intercepted a dodge ram pick up truck. Inside the truck, were 6 occupants, a Belizean and 5 Guatemalans including the 2 that had been under surveillance.
When police searched the vehicle, they found 2- 9mm guns in the pan of the truck.
The men have since been detained.
