Aragon expressed his condolences to the officer’s family and also condemned the shooting, labeling the event as “reprehensible.”
“I also give my assurances to his family and the public at large that the perpetrators of this vile act will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Aragon said.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Dean Barrow visited Martinez’s family to express his condolences as well. Martinez was shot once to the right ribcage while responding to a robbery in progress on Regent Street West this morning.
He died while undergoing treatment at the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital.
