Former Mayor takes lead in UDP Cayo Northeast convention

BBN Staff: The battle for the United Democratic Party’s (UDP) standard bearer in Cayo Northeast is a close race.

Today, UDP supporters went to the polls to select a standard bearer to contest the next general election in an attempt to unseat current PUP Area Representative, Oralndo Habet.

Mayor of San Ignacio and Santa Elena Earl Trapp, Former Mayor John August and veteran politician, Salvador Fernandez were at the polling station today meeting the voters.

Tonight the counting is on-going, however reports indicate that Former Mayor John August Jr. won the convention beating Trapp by 3 votes.

Trapp is reportedly requesting a recount of the ballots.
