cis Fonseca extended congratulations to the newly elected United Democratic Party (UDP) standard bearer for Freetown, Orson ‘Oj’ Elrington.

Elrington emerged victorious yesterday in a UDP contested convention against Carla Barnett and Freddy Castillano.

“ I congratulate Mr. Orson Elrington on becoming the UDP Standard Bearer for Freetown. I thank Dr. Carla Barnett for being a worthy, gracious and tough opponent in the 2015 campaign and for her contributions to the Freetown community during her tenure as UDP Standard Bearer,” Fonseca stated.

Fonseca also asserted to Belizeans that to him, politics is not personal, “For me politics is not personal. Politics is about building relationships with the people you serve and working to advance policies and programs which can improve the lives of the residents of Freetown and indeed the wider Belizean public.”

He then went on to accuse the ruling UDP government of ‘disrespect’ and ‘disregard’ the will of the people of Freetown by channeling all resources through unelected UDP standard bearers.

Furthermore, Fonseca says that over the next few months, their focus will be on the national referendum scheduled for April 10, 2019 to ensure that Belizeans are fully and properly informed so that each individual can make the best possible decision in the national interest.

Fonseca has been the area representative for the Freetown division since 2003.
