High powered rifle and ammo found in vehicle; occupants escaped

By BBN Staff: Around midday yesterday, police received information about a vehicle on the coastal road with heavily armed men.

A team of police officers from Dangriga went into the area and saw a tinted blue Ford Explorer without a license plate.

As police approached the vehicle, it sped off toward the sea near White Ridge.

When the vehicle reached the seaside, the officers saw 6 men with high powered rifles escaping from the vehicle into the nearby bushes.

The officers called for assistance and a team of police officers from the Special Patrol Unit along with members of BSAG responded.

The vehicle was located and a search of the area revealed one M4 carbine automatic assault rifle with (47) live rounds of ammunition.

The occupants of the vehicle escaped.

Police are investigating.
