Posted: Wednesday, November 14, 2018. 2:49 pm CST.

BBN Staff: Today, three Belize City primary schools, St. John Vianney R.C., St. Martin De Porres R.C. and St. Luke Methodist embarked on an urban gardening project coined by the Belize Police Department.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Howell Gillett, the mind behind the project, said that he reached out to the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), to provide funding for the project. The project also saw the collaboration with the Ministries of Education and Agriculture.

“The education process is often frustrated when a child is concerned about the availability of his or her next meal,” Gillett explained.

He also said that the project started two years ago with three schools in Belmopan, and is secured to continue into the future through the collaboration with the various partners.
