By BBN Staff:The Embassy of Mexico is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Mexican Cultural Institute in Belize.
As a part of the festivities, the Embassy presents the retrospective exhibition of one of the most representative artists of the last quarter of the century in Belize: Pen Cayetano.
The master artist will showcase his multidisciplinary skills as a painter, sculptor and musician of the Garifuna culture.
Cayetano has participated in different collective and individual exhibitions at national and international venues, and has become one of the main cultural ambassadors of this country.
Delvin “Pen” Cayetano, painter, singer, songwriter, percussionist, guitarist, is the leading cultural reviver and Ambassador of the Garinagu. He was born in 1954 in Dangriga, cultural capital of Belize. He is a self-taught painter and musician.
Cayetano began his artistic career as a painter in the 70’s. His works portray scenes of everyday life in Belize, its folklore, history and Garifuna culture.
His works have been exhibited in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
In Mexico, his exhibitions have been hosted at the Museum of Mayan Culture in Chetumal and at the National Museum of Cultures in Mexico City.
This exhibition will open tonight at 7:00 at the Mexican Cultural Institute-Belize.
Entrance will be free and open to the general public.
