Despite significant evidence, accused murderer found not guilty

BBN Staff: Warren Lewis, 27, has spent the last nine years of his life in prison. However, as of yesterday, he was a freed man.

A jury found him not guilty of the 2009 murder of Alberto Allen, 22. Allen was found dead at a dumpsite at mile four on the George Price Highway. His throat was cut and he was shot in the back by killers who then pushed a stick down his throat.

The evidence against Lewis was significant. He had confessed to the crime and the bullet from the victim’s body matched a pistol that was found in a car he was driving.

Yet, Lewis told the court that he was beaten by police officer, Nicholas Polomo, to confess to the crime. However, Palomo passed away early this year.

With that, the jury could not find him guilty and Justice Marilyn Williams announced that he was cleared of all charges.
