By BBN Staff: The controversy surrounding the Belmopan City Council’s sale of the Public Service Union’s Hilltop headquarters continues to dominate headline news.
While it has been confirmed that the property was sold to Simplex Design Limited who is owned by Xin Ni, we have confirmed that the company was formed only one day before the October 10th sale.
We have also confirmed that the company’s address is dubious. In the companies register, the company said it is located at #38 Santa Rita Layout, Corozal. However, PSU official, Amelio Cal, has indicated that since 2000 that address has been the home of his family and at no time did any Chinese national reside there. He took to Facebook to ensure that this matter was corrected.
Further probing revealed that a light bill in the name of Sanju Chulani, a Justice of the Peace closely connected to the Free Zone, was used in this fraudulent transaction. The JP who helped set up the company went to the extent of saying that Xin Ni resides at his residence at #38 Santa Rita Layout.
While more questionable details continue to emerge, the Public Service Union has given the Belmopan City Council until the end of November to reverse this sale.
