Taiwan and Belize to host motor exhibition on motor vehicle registration program

Posted: Thursday, November 22, 2018. 10:07 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will host a half day Achievements Exhibition to be held in the Santa Rita Room of Radisson Fort George Hotel on November 28.

The Achievements Exhibition is being organized by the governments of Belize and Taiwan with the achievements of Belize Motor Vehicle Registration and License System (BMVRALS).

The BMVRALS Project seeks to address the decentralized transport governance in Belize. At present, the Department of Transport and nine municipalities work independent of each other and operate on isolated electronic databases and manual systems, hence resulting in inefficient and inaccessible record management and data sharing.

From 2017 to 2020, this project will establish an “integrated and centralized Transport System” for the entire country by reforming and digitizing the transport processes and services and introducing necessary audit mechanisms.

In the first two years of the project, major functions have been developed to process driver’s licenses, vehicle licenses, vehicle registration, traffic tickets and revenue collection.

For the next two years, the system will focus on capacity building for system management and maintenance and new service applications.
