Government and Opposition pays homage to Fidel Castro

By BBN Staff: At today’s sitting of the House of Representatives, Prime Minister of Belize, Dean Barrow began the meeting by paying homage to Cuba’s Former President, Fidel Castro who passed away on November 25, 2016.

“Viva Fidel,” Barrow stated and asked members of the House to stand and extend respect to Castro.

Opposition leader, John Briceno is missing at today’s sitting.

Deputy Party Leader, Cordel Hyde then presented and thanked Fidel Castro and the people of Cuba for their support to Belize and their support for Belize’s independence, “Your life and legacy lives on forever. Thank you.”

Speaker of the House, Laura Tucker Longsworth also acknowledged Cuban representative in Belize, Lissette Perez.

The meeting of the House of Representatives is paused for a brief photo op period.
