Joseph Penner charged for fatal traffic accident

BBN Staff: Twenty-year-old Joseph Penner was charged today for the fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of a man on Wednesday evening.

Guatemalan national Edwin Valdes was riding his bicycle on the Hummingbird Highway when upon reaching near Yim Saan hotel in Belmopan, he was knocked off his bike by a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The Dodge Ram was being driven at the time by Penner.

Valdes received serious head and body injuries and died shortly after.

Penner was detained and charged for ‘causing death by careless conduct’ and ‘driving without due care and attention’.
