Police issue official report on murder near Belize/Guatemala Border

BBN Staff: Today, Belmopan police issued an official report on the death of Guatemalan national, Jairo Alfaro, 26.

According to police reports, yesterday at 3:30 p.m., police visited an area about 50 meters away from the Belize/Guatemala Border in Belizean territory.

There, they observed the lifeless body of a Hispanic man in the bushes.

The body was observed with a small wound to the back of the neck and a small wound to the right upper chest area.

Both injuries are believed to be gunshot wounds.

The body was transported to the San Ignacio Town Hospital where it was pronounced dead.

No ID was presented to confirm his true identity. Police are investigating.
