Taiwan grants Belize $8 million for infrastructure projects

By BBN Staff: Today in Belize City, His Excellency Remus Li-Kuo Chen, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Belize, presented a bilateral cooperation grant to Belize’s Prime Minister, Dean Barrow.

The grant is in the sum of BZ$8 million.

The grant is for the year 2018 under the Bilateral Cooperation Program between the two countries.

The purpose of the grant is to assist the overall development of Belize, particularly in the development of transportation infrastructure.

The funds will cover a portion of the expenditures on key infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of the Northern Highway from Belize City to Haulover Bridge, rehabilitation of the Hummingbird Highway, and upgrading of streets and drains in Southside of Belize City.
