By BBN Staff: John Paul II Junior College (JPIIJC) opened its second annual art exhibition on Friday, November 30th, 2018.

The show entitled ‘Gift’ featured fifty-seven pieces created by nineteen student artists.

According to a statement from the school, the artworks will be on display until Friday, December 7th in the gallery at the college located on Chapel Hill Road, Benque Viejo del Carmen.

Azzor Requena, a guest remarked, “The exhibition was very well-organized and aesthetically pleasing. For the community, it gives people an appreciation for art itself and the thought behind it.”

Student artists likewise expressed enthusiasm.

Carmencita Kotch, a second-year Business Administration major said, “The show was a success. So many people came and asked questions. I was able to meet so many new people. I was able to share with the viewers my story–and that’s a beautiful thing.”

Liberal Arts major, Salvador Iglesias Jr., explained, “The audience pointed out things that even I didn’t notice. People were telling me that the world needs more artists and encouraging me to continue.”

Natalie Gallatin, Professor of Art and Creative Director at the college expressed:   “Gift began as an idea that might entice artists to express gratitude and invite viewers to reflect on that which can be taken for granted. The artists were asked to begin with the common thread of gratitude, and from there create pieces that dipped into self, society, and tangible giving,”

The art exhibit also received accolades from the Benque community.

In addition to art classes, all students at JPIIJC complete a core curriculum that includes logic, philosophy, and theology. Enjoying record-high enrollment, the college awards Associates of Arts degrees in Liberal Arts, English, and Business Administration, and will add a major in Catechetics in 2019.

JPIIJC recently launched a capital campaign and as it continues to grow, the school welcomes donations, as well as inquiries from prospective students.
