Police investigating murder in Santa Elena

BBN Staff: San Ignacio police are investigating the murder of a young woman that occurred last night in Santa Elena.

Around 7:16 last night, police responded to a report of a shooting on Bishop Martin street, Santa Elena, Cayo.

There, police saw two women, Jennis August, 35, suffering from gunshot injuries to the upper chest and Brenda Castellanos, 25, also suffering from gunshot injuries to the chest region and left ankle.

They were transported to the San Ignacio Hospital and thereafter to the Western Regional Hospital where Castellanos succumbed to her injuries.

Police investigations revealed that August and Castellanos were socializing in their yard on Bishop Martin street along with their children and other relatives when a man appeared in front of the yard and fired several shots towards their direction.

Police are investigating.
