By BBN Staff: A suspected drug plane landed on the Guatemalan side of the Sarstoon river early Friday morning.

Channel 7 news reported that a Beechcraft King Air 90 landed on the banks of the Sarstoon river. Pictures also showed Guatemalan soldiers guarding the plane with the Belize side visible.

Channel 7 also reported that two Guatemalans were detained by a BDF patrol from the nearby Forward Operating Base around Graham Creek shortly after the plane reportedly landed. The Guatemalan men were suspicious as only farmers normally traffic the area.

The Guatemalans reportedly told the BDF that they were left behind by a boat they had chartered. According to Channel 7, the men did not have valid entry permits for Belize.

This latest plane landing comes amidst a number of other plane landings in and around Belize. Last week a drug jet landed in Chetumal.
