Mental health patient dies in traffic mishap

y BBN Staff:On Friday night there was a fatal road traffic accident reported in the west.

Belize City businessman, Ian Rhaburn, reported to police that he was driving from Roaring Creek to Belize City in a rental car.

While he was approaching St. Matthews village, a man ran across the road.

Unfortunately he was struck and suffered bodily injuries. He reportedly died on the spot.

Police have since issued Rhaburn with a Notice of Intended Prosecution but have not yet determined if they will bring criminal charges against him.

That is because the deceased is a special needs patient who reportedly dashed across the road spontaneously into oncoming traffic.
