Caneros protest for better sugar roads

Posted: Wednesday, December 12, 2018. 4:26 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The sugar crop season is scheduled for opening tomorrow.

However, all is not well for some farmers especially those in Caledonia, Corozal.

Today just before midday, a group of them took to protest demanding better sugar roads to deliver their crops.

Due to the poor quality of the sugar roads, their trucks suffer breakdowns and even accidents.

These farmers who have invested their monies in their crops simply want improved road conditions to make their deliveries.

If not, they say it will be difficult to deliver their crops.

According to them, each year before it is time to deliver their crops, the government provides an upgrade to the sugar roads.

However, that has not happened this year.

We will keep following this story for more developments.
