400 Children attend 8th Annual Spirit of Christmas Concert

By BBN Staff:The Bliss Center for Performing Arts in Belize City was once again packed with over 400 children and adolescents from across the country as the Special Envoy for Women and Children hosted the 8th annual Spirit of Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 8.

The event is an annual initiative organized by Kim Simplis Barrow to give a special treat for children living in childcare institutions and children with disabilities.

This year’s attendees included residents of Hopewell House, King’s Children’s Home, Hosanna House, Marla’s House of Hope, Dorothy Menzies Childcare Center, Liberty Children’s Home, and Laugh Out Loud Children’s Home.

Students of Stella Maris School and the Patsie Browne Special Education Center, as well as clients of The Inspiration Center and Cancer Society, were included in the Christmas cheer.

The children were treated to three hours of entertainment provided by local artists Denise Castillo, T.R. Shine, Ernestine Carballo, Jael August and Shaneeka Moir. The kids also enjoyed entertained from Santa Clause, Dora, Minnie, and Mickie Mouse mascots alongside numerous other entertainers.

 Performers included the Belize National Dance Company, Jankunu Dancers and Belize Elementary School Dance Troupe.

During the show,  Simplis Barrow handed over personal gifts to the home managers and principals as a token of appreciation for their hard work in taking care of the vulnerable children in the homes and special education centers.

Every child in the audience also received a small gift and snack-box at the end of the show.

Barrow thanks all performers as well as the attendants who contributed to the show’s success.

The Special Envoy wishes Belizeans everywhere all the blessings of the season throughout the Christmas holidays and the New Year!
