By BBN Staff:On Wednesday, December 12, 2018, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) hosted its 2018 Emergency Awards and Appreciation Banquet.
The main speaker for the occasion was the Minister of National Emergency Management, Edmond Castro.
The welcome remarks were delivered by Dangriga Mayor Francis Humphreys, who is also Chairman of the Stann Creek Emergency Committee.
Other speakers included Town Councilor and Director for the Stann Creek Emergency Operations Center, Aaron Gongora; and NEMO Southern Regional Coordinator Keith Emmanuel.
Receiving awards were Tristan Usher, Emergency Worker of the Year; Aaron “Jake” Gongora, Long Service Award; Russell Lambert, Emergency Leader of the Year; Cynthia Villagran, Outstanding Service Award; Public Works Department, Emergency Team Spirit Award; and Hope Creek Village Council (represented by Village Chairman Elroy Wade), Village emergency committee of the year.
Also issued were a total of twenty (20) medals to public officers and volunteers for dedicated service in Disaster & Emergency Management.
The event was held at the Red Cross building in Dangriga.
Master of Ceremony was NEMO Stann Creek district coordinator, David Cruz.
