By BBN Staff: On December 12, the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) donated $20,000 to Cayo Central area representative, Rene Montero for the construction of a park in Hillview, Santa Elena.
Ambassador Remus Li-Kuo Chen handed over the generous donation.
On behalf of the people of Santa Elena town and the surrounding community, Montero expressed his gratitude for Taiwan’s generosity in co-financing the construction of the park that will benefit the residents in the area for many years to come.
Taiwan’s contribution to the development of the Hillview park will provide local residents a gathering place for families,neighbors and friends.
The youth may also use the park to enjoy sports or cultural activities with their peers,building their character and sense of community in a positive and constructive way.
“Through this sponsorship and many other cooperation projects, the Government of Taiwan cherishes the opportunity to be a trustworthy and supporting partner for the people and government of Belize to move towards a more prosperous future,” a statement from the Taiwan embassy said.
