Chinese national jumps out moving vehicle and dies

By BBN Staff: A Chinese national is dead following a road trip to southern Belize.

He has been identified as Belmopan resident, Gian Wu Yang, 36.

According to police, over the weekend he was traveling in a truck driven by Hu Wan Tan, 36.

Upon reaching near a small bridge on the Hummingbird Highway near the Steadfast Community, Tan applied brakes.

However, the brakes failed.

Fearing that the truck might collide into an oncoming vehicle, Yang reportedly jumped out.

However, he struck his head on the road and ended up beneath the truck which inevitably collided into another vehicle.

Yang was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Tan has since been detained pending investigation.
