Man survives house fire in Libertad, Corozal

By BBN Staff: A man from Libertad village, Corozal survived a house fire that destroyed his home yesterday afternoon.

Police were called out to Libertad village where they saw a wooden and zinc structure completely engulfed in fire.

Police investigations revealed that Nolberto Federico Hical, 39, arrived home about 2:00 p.m. and moments later smoke was seen coming from the house.

Neighbors went to assist but noticed that the front door was locked.

Hical later opened the door and collapsed. He was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital in a semi-conscious state.

The fire was extinguished by fire personnel. The structure was already completely destroyed by the fire by the time it was extinguished.

The value has not been ascertained at this time.

Investigations continue.
