By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Education issued a memorandum on January 14, 2019 warning schools against the dismissal of students during class hours.
It is widely known that a common practice among schools is the sending home of students who did not manage to sell all their raffle or fundraising tickets.
However, the Ministry says that this practice of sending students home from school should be discontinued immediately to ensure the safety and security of students.
“It is no longer acceptable to send students home during school hours for whatever reason unless they are released into the custody of a parent or guardian,” the memo said.
The Ministry says that education departments are available to provide support and alternatives to such practice.
