By BBN Staff: A Guatemalan national has been fined and jailed for two counts of drug trafficking.
He is Ivan De Jesus Lopez, 35.
On Saturday around 5:30 p.m. police were on mobile patrol in Benque, Cayo when they saw Lopez near the bus terminal.
The officers quickly followed him inside the bus and conducted a search.
That search led to the discovery of a transparent parcel containing two different bags.
In one of the bags, police found a powdery substance suspected to be cocaine. It was weighed at 492 grams. Another parcel of the white powdery substance weighed 29 grams.
As a result, Lopez was fined $25,000 for the first bag and another $10,000 for the second bag. He was also sentenced to three years in prison.
