Do Not Miss Placencia’s Sidewalk Arts & Music Festival in 2019

Posted: Tuesday, January 29, 2019. 11:22 am CST.

BBN Staff: Before the celebration of Valentine’s Day, all roads lead to Placencia Village on February 9-10 for the 16th annual Sidewalk Festival, hosted by the Placencia Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA).

The event, which takes place along the length of the sidewalk in Placencia Village will feature live musical performances, steel band music and over 40 booths showcasing the very best that Belizean artisans have to offer.

Shanice Westby, office manager at the Placencia Chapter of the BTIA told Breaking Belize News that the event, now in it’s 16th year of running, is geared towards giving the attendees a good time, while giving the artisans a chance to get their products out there. Apart from traditional arts, the festival is set to feature items such as jewelry, handicrafts, and a chocolate making demonstration by the Ixcacao Maya Chocolate Company.

‘It’s a lot of work, we have to go and meet with all the property owners and get their permission so that the booths can be set up infront of their properties,” Westby said. “But it’s all worth it and we encourage everyone to come out and have a good time. There will be drinks, a booth selling wine and cheese, and just fun all around for everyone.”

Westby noted that there are still both spaces available for any business wanting to participate in the festival. Interested businesses are encouraged to email [email protected] or [email protected].
