Police comment on fire at Belize Aquaculture Limited

BBN Staff: On Monday at around 5:10 p.m. police in Independence, Stann Creek were called to the scene of a fire at the Belize Aquaculture Limited compound on the Placencia Road.

When officers arrived on the scene, the building was seen engulfed in flames.

Initial police investigations revealed that an hour before police arrived, an employee of the company saw smoke coming from the main building.

Unfortunately that is where the fire originated.

At this time, the cause of the fire is still unknown. The value of the damage is also yet to be determined.

Police were unable to say if the building and its contents were insured.
