By Audrey B. Matura: The 13th MURDER for the New Year? The bullet spares no one… but most have the name of males written on them. We the women are weeping as our children remain fatherless, brotherless, cousinless, uncleless, and we remain husbandless and as mother we become son-less! The continued murder of our men or the continued imprisonment of our men is having a devastating social effect and it stems from crime which is the result of another social problem so we have a vicious cycle of losing our men, to social problems that we can resolve, not overnight, but with commitment and will-power we can bring the change! I know we can but we lack the leadership and community education, empowerment and upliftment in this small society of not even half million persons.
The women already outnumber the amount of men in our society and so true prospects of our daughters finding a suitable and worthy partner is limited, so more of us will remain partnerless or will remain in abusive relationships with men cheating and abusing us physically, financially, mentally and psychologically, just so we can meet our desire to have a partner…. But because the male pool is small we must temper our expectations. Thus, it is no surprise that the rate of domestic violence reports and crimes continue to rise and the nature of abuse gets worst and unabated! This is made worse by the caliber of men available for our daughters… sad but true the few good ones are gone like hot panades and thus we now have our women involved with job-less, ruthless, often broken men, who often father children and are not around to mentor them, just as their fathers before them, which helps to continue the cycle of boys growing up without exemplay male role models. it also continues the cycle of hurt and women trying to be single moms and coping with life, but with all best intentions these women are often unable to meet all their children’s need – not only financially, but emotionally because they too have been left broken!
Yes we have women broken by the fact that they never had a father-figure to help them learn and how to view, cope with and relate to men, so they can’t even pass on their father’s values to their sons! trust me its all connected and all intertwined!
IRONICALLY – 99% of our political leaders, church leaders, business leaders, law enforcement leaders, are men – and I wonder when they will realize that like the fathers of our children, they too have failed our children! There is no concerted effort to stop this madness of the elimination of our young men! none! and brutal police force will NEVER solve it…. its a social problem, its a social cancer, its our social demise!
I will keep repeating myself: until we address the issue of crime from the root cause, which is a social cause, no amount of police and military might will stop this problem! none! this problem has to be solved in a multi-prong approach. it can be done, but we lack TRUE and GENUINE leaders to take this on and we have none at the helm right now! So in the end it is our men failing our boys each time….
Our political system is so corrupt that many don’t’ see how corruption at the top translates to putrefication in all facets at the bottom! I wish I could start a movement to turn this country around! I know it can be done! it can!
This young man like many killed before him could have made a positive difference in this country. 33 year old Shawn Hemmans, likewise, a hardworking man, just going about his normal life when he was gunned down with 11 bullets… tragic. The Hemmans family are at a loss and going through great agony!
Now the Yanai Family and the Taka San community, both staff and patrons are also mourning. Lets keep his father in prayer and hope he survives this ordeal having been listed critical at khmh.
