Ministry of National Security exploring law which would require repeat gun offenders to wear tracking devices

Posted: Monday, February 11, 2019. 4:13 pm CST.

BBN Staff: The Minister of National Security today established an exploratory committee to examine the feasibility of a repeat gun offense law.

The law would require repeat gun offenders and convicted gang members to wear a tracking device when they are released from prison to enable police to compare those persons’ location to the scene of a crime at the time the crime is committed.

A similar pilot project has been launched for knife crime offenders in London, England where there has been an upsurge in violent crimes recently.

Appointed to the committee are Carlos Namis, IT Specialist; Dr. Ajay Hotchandani, consultant; and Nicole Haylock, Citizen Security Expert.
