By BBN Staff: The Elections and Boundaries Department notifies the public that the cut-off date for accepting applications for registration of persons who wish to vote in the 10th April, 2019 referendum has been varied from 10th March to 12 March 2019.
This change in date has become necessary due to the computation of time.
Section 55 (b) of the Interpretation Act states: “if the last day of the period is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday the period shall include the next following day, not being a public holiday”. As a result, March 10th being a Sunday and March 11th being a public holiday (in lieu of March 9th – National Heroes and Benefactors Day), the next following day is March 12, 2019.
The public is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and register.
