The programs’ processes are fast, affordable and non-stressful. We know that every student has a unique set of circumstances and we are committed to each and every one achieve his or her success. Each student is assessed thoroughly to determine the financial support they are qualified to receive and then helped with selecting the best-fitted option.”

3. A Low-interest Bearing Student Loan Program where students can borrow to complete their studies and pay a 7-9% interest rate for their loans. This student loan program is being offered in partnership with Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust (BNECT). Students who use this loan option may pay only the interest for the first 2 years if they choose. The program is intended to pay for tuition only and is based on the loan values of each student’s varying needs and affordability. The term of the loan requires full repayment within 7 years. No penalty will be added for early payment fulfillment.

The University also works with several external financial agencies. Many of these agencies (DFC, credit unions, and commercial banks) also carry attractive interest-bearing loan packages that cover all costs related to studying at Galen, according to Ms. Escalante-Anderson.

Additionally, the school will accept grants students receive for Excellence on their CXC examinations to offset GU’s tuition cost.

Qualified candidates are also encouraged to apply for Galen’s Scholarships and Professional Work Study Programs. These awards are given once a year at the beginning of the academic year. To be considered, interested applicants must send their applications on time, before the deadline at the end of June, prior to that upcoming academic year. To qualify, students must demonstrate the best combination of good citizenship and academic excellence as well as a financial need. Incoming first-time freshmen may qualify for a four-year tuition scholarship and incoming transfer students may qualify for a two-year tuition scholarship.

Both Scholarships are valued at 75% of the tuition cost and the scholarship recipients must pay the remaining 25% tuition difference.

Students who are not an Academic Scholar or an Athlete, can apply for the Professional Work Study program. A minimum of 3.0 GPA is required. This program is designed to assist students who possess above average academic abilities along with strong work ethics and the desire to develop their professional work skills. Students who qualify for this option pay for their tuition by working at the school while they pursue a higher education and complete their degree.
