The workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at the George Price Centre in Belmopan.
The main objective of the assessment is to conduct a national-level assessment of the impacts of various technologies and practices that affect GHG emissions and will be targeting sectors such as energy, forestry, agriculture, transport, industry, and waste.
Through this Mitigation and Stakeholder Workshop, the facilitators will be able to generate important information that will be used to develop a national mitigation strategy for Belize.
The assessment should also provide inputs for policymakers such as an evaluation of those technologies and practices with the potential to reduce GHG emissions and contribute to national development objectives.
The assessment will also help in analyzing the legislation, policies and programs currently in place and identify policies and programs that could enhance the adoption of GHG mitigation measures; thus, enabling the identification of Belize’s best and primary alternatives for mitigation.
