By BBN Staff: The Government of Belize (GOB) today issued a statement in relation to concerns raised by Belizeans regarding the tender process of contracts issued by the government.
The office of the Solicitor General says that the tendering process for the recently signed contract for rehabilitation of the George Price Highway Section III, is done pursuant to the procurement policies of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which can be found online.
GOB says that the Evaluation Committee responsible for the process is comprised of public officers, but the Government of Belize (GOB) does not set the requirements for who will be awarded the contract.
All requirements are set by the IDB.
Additionally, the procurement plan, bidding documents, and evaluation are executed by GOB but approved by the IDB.
The entire execution of the project is done under the guidance and supervision of the IDB.
Details on the IDB procurement process can be found at these sites:
1. Procurement policy:
2. IDB Procurement Policy for Goods and Works (GN-2349-9 – March 2011)
3. IDB Procurement Policy for Contracting Consultants (GN-2350-6 – March 2011)
