Wagner said that the previous council did not make any provisions for furniture, elevators, or generators for the building, all of which will end up costing his council an upward of $800,000. He went on to say that he feels the previous council did not make the provisions because
they had the support of Central Government.
“Unfortunately we don’t have a big brother so we are left with a situation where the keys will be given to us within the next month or so and every day we do not occupy that building we will be losing substantial money because we will still be paying rent for the municipal court, we will still be paying rent for our HR operations,” Wager said.
He added that the council has approached its bankers to give them a loan until the council get a new municipal bond floated and then pay the loan off. He said that the relevant documents for the bond have already been forwarded to the office of the Solicitor General and
other relevant bodies within Central Government.
The new municipal bond will be valued somewhere in the realm of $6 million.
