US Army Winged Warriors conduct training in Belize

BBN Staff: The United States Army’s 1st Battalion 228th Aviation Regiment are in Belize conducting areial gunnery and other special training exercises.

The training has several targets as the soldiers hone their combat skills but also work on their synergy with armed forces from other allied nations. Major Christopher Daily, 228th Avn Regt. Executive officer explained that the operations are done in tandem with British armed forces as well as the Belize Defense Force.

“We’re also here to continue joint operations with other countries. It gives us the opportunity to operate in a complex situation, be able to set up and run different operational cells and figure out how to do business if we need to deploy forward,” Daily said.

Daily said that the operations will enhance the existing partnerships, as they carry out air assault planning and allow other armed forces to think through how they would use the aircrafts provided by the Winged Warriors in various combat scenarios.

Their visit coincides with the Royal Marines of the United Kingdom, who are also conducting training operations in Belize.
