Police: Unable to determine motive in Independence shooting incident

By BBN Staff: On Sunday around 5 a.m. police in Independence, Stann Creek were called to the polyclinic.

There, they observed a man with head and body injuries.

He was subsequently transported to the Southern Regional Hospital and thereafter the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

There, he was identified as Belize City resident, Edward Conorquie, 22.

Initial investigations revealed that he was at a function in the village when he was picked up and transported to the polyclinic with these injuries.

Police are at this time trying to determine a motive for this shooting incident.

Conorquie remains in a critical condition.
