Team NICH takes Guinness 2019 Belize River Canoe Challenge

Staff: The National Institute of Culture and History’s (NICH) team took first place in the Guinness 2019 Belize River Canoe Challenge hosted by the Belize Canoe Association.

The race, sponsored by Bown and Bowen, Manatee Lookout, Econo Diesel and Timberman Designs, covered the distance from Grace Bank to Manatee Lookout. A total of 17 teams participated in the race and Team NICH took the top spot with a completion time of 2:26:19.

Team Crunch Time, sponsored by Burn Box and Belize Aggregates, took second place with a time of 2:26:26, and Guydis Canoe Spirit,
sponsored by Guydis Canoe, took third place with a time of 2:27:07. Canoers countrywide are preparing for the Belekin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge,  which is scheduled for March 8.
