By: Dr. Gerald Zuniga: Honestly, I can’t continue to sit back and listen to and less accept the ignorance or deliberate intention of some individuals nationally and internationally. Hence, I decided to express my idea in graphemes or words. Ironically, we are living in the era of cibernetic when knowledge now is more and readily accessible than never before but less people are using critical thinking. Rather we are embracing distorted thinking and some cases are products of consuming psychoactive substances being licit or illicit. Bygone is the era of metaphysical contemplations. I was fortunate to have teachers who stimulated critical thinking in my education pathway. Kudos to my teachers at St. Peter Claver Primary School: Std V”A” Mr.Jerry Enriquez, Std VI “A” Mrs. Florence Galvez, and Principal: Mr. Paul Mahung and at the extinct St. Peter Claver College (last graduation group and was in the year 1983) teachers like Mr. Austin Arzu, Mr. Philip Edwards R.I.P., among others but most importantly to Mr. Dennis Lopez. He was my brilliant geography teacher in 3rd Form. How much I admired the knowledge and brilliance of Teacher Lopez. He used to just enter his class with only his eraser and chalk and what didactic classes or lectures he would give! Belize have had and continues to have brilliant children but unfortunately our political system stimulate and trust more the foreigners like Cubans, Philippines, Central Americans, or anyone foreign than their own. Hence, we have a high brain drain or complacency to maintain a job. Hope to see a Belize where BELIZEANS ARE FIRST. Where you migrate more for specialized studies and work and you come back home to develop yourself, your family, and nation. As late Dr. Martin Luther King would say “I have a dream that one day”. So going back to those important teachers of mine at primary and high school level having the same level of respect and thanks to the many professors I had at the also extinct Belize Teachers’ College ( especially to the late Mr. Victor Nicholas R.I.P. my lecturer in Educational Philosophy) and at the universities I attended. I must say that Teacher Lopez provoked and stimulated my interest in geography in general and in meteorology specifically, to the point that at that age of 15 /16, I had thought of becoming a meteorologist or a F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot but later studied Primary School Education,  Medical Science, Siddha/Ayurvedic Medical Science, Acupuncture, Political Science, among others, instead. It was then and with him that I learnt the Theory of Continental Drift and the proofs. Proofs like the area of Brazil and Guyana on the continent of South America fits in the area of Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Angola, and Nambia and Benin, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Liberia in the northwest on the continent of Africa.. Geologically, they also share similar rocks.

Why does this come about? I am tired of hearing about CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL WARMING. IF IT DOESN’T CHANGE, THEN IT ISN’T CLIMATE. Climate is ever changing because of the physical elements that

makes up the climate over a length of time like humidity, air density, temperature, etc. These are all variables not constants. It is important to clarify these two terms: Weather and climate. Weather is the atmospheric condition in a given area in a period of 24 hours. While climate is the weather condition in a given area usually in a period of over 33 years. We shouldn’t be astounded nor feared about climate change. Climate change is nature’s law. Eversince the history of Earth, its climate is always changing and at cataclysmic level in some episodes but the Earth’s population was small then or none in previous stages much less industries to blame it on global warming. So the big deal on climate change is utter nonsense. Wasn’t the disappearance of the dinosaurs a result of climate change?

It is important that we, as human beings, learn that natur, e of climate is a par, is harsh. Nature is not nice and it is important that conversationists take this into consideration. Conversation must homogenize with nature otherwise a phenomen will happen and nature will always rule. Humankind protects itself from nature. Hence, we live in houses and wear clothing. cannot alter the path of nature we can only strive to minimize its impact. There is where ours and many education systems should design an approach and methodology where we learn to cope and minimize the impact of the climate change on our lives. Design appropriate homes and buildings. Wear the appropriate clothing. Have the right diet, etc. I repeat nature is not nice. Leave your house unattended to and nature will be in charge. Nature will in charge of destroying it for you. In Hinduism, they talk about the God of Creation, Protection, and Destruction. It is the maintenance that deters the destructive nature of nature. Sorry for the redundancy. Hence, nature conscious material and chemical engineers design materials that resist the impact of nature or are biodegradable. Those who have read earth history read about the Ice Age. Wasn’t that climate change? Was the cold and ice in that era global colding? And there were no industries. So? The industrialization period began after the French Revolution. Would the climate change advocates refer to the continental drift as climate change? The biggest climate change would be that referred in Genesis, when God said “Let there be light.”. Base on science, light is important for complex plant life like the angiosperms. When there were no or limited plants wasn’t that impact of climate change? Were there industries? An outright no. What surprises me is that such school of thought comes from the nations having the” best ranking” universities of the world. What an irony! After Al Gore lost his presidential run he took up climate change and global warming and amassed a fortune. This climate change and global warming issue is nothing more than a marketable brand used for political gain because it sells. The political system for decade has designed system of less critical thinking and more indoctrination because as I said in one of my articles that it is cheaper to indoctrinate than to educate because the objective is to exercise dominion. For centuries, antagonisms or contraries are used to conquer. The rich against the poor, blacks against whiites, science against religion, Christians against Non-Christians in certain countries, right against left, etc., etc. All machiavelisms. Divide and conquer. All used by politicians in politic, the invention of catchy political clichés to call attention and most of the time we know they are not true but we accept them and even promote them. For example, organic food. If organic food, which I am advocate of but I am also realistic, is the go, the vast majority of the world population would starve to death because organic farming can’t feed the world population. Nature is harsh. A massification of the practice will call pests and make everything a challenge.

We hear about Green Deal  which is the baby of Ocasio-Cortez with emphasis on “clean” energy source but nothing on reforestation. If I would be in our House, I would promote a law that those in the timber industry should plant at 12 plants of the same specie they exploit. They should all have their own nursery. That is what you call sustainable and not in words but in action. Isn’t that common sense? Won’t that make their business really sustainable.

The other popular empty phrases are “renewable and non renewable energy.” All energies are renewable. Some renews quicker than others. The universal law of physics says that energy is neither created nor destroyed. It is transformed. I assure you that there are many types of energy yet to be discovered. As our knowledge and wisdom advance, we will discover them. As the saying goes “da fools di talk but da no fools di listen.’ Fools could be talking but not fools listening. Energy is one of the key commodities for development. Cromagnon and Neanderthal man lived in cave and their energy was more the sun. Now, we continue to use the sun and many others sources. I refuse to accept that solar, wind, geothermal, and others could substitute fossil fuel. Solar and wind energies are not sustainable and will stagnate and contract the world economy and could provoke a world war. We are talking about climate change yet we are confident that we will always be able to harness sunlight and the wind. So absurd. When we experienced from young that there are days when sun doesn’t even shine and the radiant energy is not enough to charge a battery and we live in the tropics. What about countries that are not blessed with sunlight for months. Ironically, we in the tropic are blessed with rich natural resources including plentiful sunshine but with the curse of poverty. We can’t continue with a world order of do what I say but don’t do what I do. Industrialized countries exploit their resources at their freewill but they have us conserving ours for them and others to exploit at their will . Paying meager prices and have us in misery and dependent on them. God gave us our iresources to exploit and being intelligent we should make the exploitation sustainable studying its natural cycle. The world should promote reforestation. That should be the Green Deal. We need to plant more trees and with high carbon dioxide absorbing property. Carbon dioxide and many other gases are the waste emissions from industries so they need to have filters and they should promote reforestation and/or rational deforestation. We should all promote reforestation and/ot rational deforestation. It will has many benefits including but not limited to economic, environmental, and climate change friendly.

We as human beings like that we being imposed school of thoughts and unfortunately the actors, those who impose, always go to the extreme. The geneticist needs to find the gene or genes for this tendency. Hence, as I said in one of my articles, political theories are only that, theories. Because the practice has nothing to do with the theory. The question is, does the United States of America continue to have the rights to impose their school of thought on us. Do Ocasio-Cortez and her colleagues have the rights to impose Ocasio-Cortezism’s “Green Deal” on us. Will it go to a world referendum? So don’t be a victim of the parrotization of climate change. If it doesn’t change, it isn’t climate. The Earth’s climate is ever changing beyond our control eversince its history. You do anything you want, the climate will still change. Change is inherent to it. If you Industrialize, the environment must get warm. Otherwise, you stop industrialize, you stop your economic growth and development and you live the life of the caveman and the climate will still change.
