Forty-four-year-old Edison Alexander Dawson of Burrell Boom made bail on Friday after pleading not guilty to a charge of harm on his domestic partner, who is three months pregnant with their second child.
The accuser, whose name we will withhold, told police that she was at home with her two daughters, one from a previous relationship and another she and Dawson had together, when Dawson came home and announced he was leaving her and taking the stove she cooks on with him.
The complainant said they began to quarrel and she mentioned something about a former girlfriend that riled Dawson, whom she says slapped her and told her not to speak about that person. They ended up on the bed and she tried to get up, whereupon Dawson grabbed her around the neck, threw her on the bed and began to punch her in her stomach. The abuse allegedly occured in the presence of their two-year old daughter. She then got on the phone and called the police for help.
Appearing before Magistrate Emmerson Banner, Dawson made bail of three thousand dollars as there was no objection to his receiving bail. He returns to court on May third, 2019.
