“Aikman’s name will forever be etched in Belize’s history books as a great political leader, audacious businessman, and as an all-around, good man,” the statement said.
“He likely will always be remembered as the young charismatic David who brought down the political Goliath, Rt. Hon. George Price, when he defeated him at the Freetown polls in the 1984 General Election.”
‘Mi D’, as he was affectionately referred to as by many, gave greatly of himself to make an extraordinary and lasting impact on Belize.
The statement notes that many benefited from his stewardship in one way or the other and fondly remember his endearing leadership qualities.
The Freetown Constituency joins the nation in mourning the passing of this Belizean patriot who served Belize with unwavering passion and purpose.
The committee also expresses its deep and heartfelt condolences to his family in their time of bereavement.
Aikman passed away on Saturday night.
