Galen and UB issue joint statement condemning violence at football game

BBN Staff: This morning, BBN reported of an incident between students of the University of Belize and Galen University that occurred during a football game last night at the Isidoro Beaton stadium in Belmopan.

Galen and UB issued a joint statement today strongly condemning the violence that took place during last night’s ATLIB football match hosted by the University of Belize in Belmopan.

The Universities inform that they are investigating the incident, and will collaborate with each other and the ATLIB Sports authorities in its investigation and disciplinary process.

“We will work together within ATLIB and with our students to ensure such violence does not escalate and reoccur,” the statement says.

The institutions also clarify that the two men holding the guns are not students of UB or Galen.

“Our Universities do not condone violence in any form,” the statement ends.
