Danny Mason trial, Day 2

Posted: Wednesday, March 13, 2019. 1:46 pm CST.

BBN Staff: The much-anticipated trial of accused murderer William “Danny” Mason and four others started off in the Supreme Court yesterday despite a request for an adjournment from the attorney representing the accused with the first two witness testimonies.

Mason, along with Ashton Vanegas, Keron Fernandez, Terrence Fernandez, and Ernest Castillo stands accused of the brutal decapitation of Dangriga Pastor Llewellyn Lucas back in 2016. Herbert Panton, attorney for all the accused, had asked for the adjournment because his legal
team had not spoken with all the accused to get instruction.

The prosecution, headed by Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryl Lynn Vidal, insisted that the trial continue and called the first two witnesses, 80-year-old David Dodd, who had allegedly been kidnapped by Mason and his associates not long before the discovery of Lucas’ death, and Magdalena Teul, Mason’s former housemaid.

Dodd testified via Skype from an undisclosed location in Texas and recounted the details of his kidnapping, while Tuel’s testimony focused on her ability to identify the accused.

The trial continues today.
