By BBN Staff: Sometime around midday yesterday there was an armed robbery in Belmopan, Cayo.

Two men were socializing at Chino’s Bar in the industrial area of the city.

However, these patrons approached the proprietor, Elder Paredes at gunpoint.

One of the robbers shot him to the stomach before making off with his licensed pistol and other possession.

Before fleeing the scene, the men attempted to rob a delivery truck at the establishment.

However, they were unable to open the deposit box.

The men then stole the surveillance system and rode away on a motorcycle.

Paredes was thereafter rushed to the Western Regional Hospital where he is listed in a stable condition.
