Today, the Police Press Office shared updates on their deaths.
According to the update, sometime around 6 p.m. Luis Cabrera, 18, was socializing at a bar in town.
That was when he and another man identified as Alexander Ruiz, 37, got into an altercation.
During that altercation, Ruiz broke a glass bottle and stabbed Cabrera to the neck with it.
Minutes later Cabrera was certified dead at the Punta Gorda Community Hospital.
Twenty minutes later police were called to the junction of the Southern Highway and the San Antonio Road.
There, they saw Ruiz on the roadside badly injured.
His passenger, William Garcia, 32, died on the spot.
The two were speeding away from the crime scene on a motorcycle driven by Ruiz.
He reportedly lost control and collided into a utility pole.
Police say that Garcia was at the bar with Ruiz but he was not involved in the altercation with Cabrera.
Police say that Ruiz remains hospitalized under police guard in a critical but stable condition at the Southern Regional Hospital.
