Truck knocks down BEL posts in Santa Elena leaving live electrical wires on ground and scaring neighbors

By BBN Staff: Live electrical wires are currently on the ground on Peter August, Lily and Orchid Streets in Santa Elena Town. 

Around 4:30 pm today, a truck drove in the vicinity and knocked down several BEL posts and pulled down the live electrical wires.

One of the BEL posts fell on top of the office of Palma’s Lumber and Supplies where BBN’s Zoila Gonzalez operates from. 

Gonzalez told us that neighbors were frightened when they heard the crashing sounds. 

“I was inside of the office and I heard the loud bang. When I looked through the window, I saw the posts falling down. I screamed and ran to the back of the yard. It was so frightening,”  Zoila told our newsroom.

Officials from the Belize Police Department, Belize Electricity Limited, Central TV and Internet and Diginet are currently at the scene assessing the damages.
