By BBN Staff:Police have charged Alexander Ruiz, the man accused of the fatal stabbing of eighteen-year-old Luis Cabrera Junior, with a series of traffic-related offenses, but have not charged him with murder.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvett, said yesterday that police have charged Ruiz with ‘manslaughter by negligence’, ‘causing death by careless conduct’ and ‘driving without due care and attention’,
with respect to the death of William Garcia.
When asked why Ruiz was not charged for murder, Myvett simply said: “I will not go into the details as to why that hasn’t been done as yet.”
The allegations are that Ruiz stabbed Cabrera, then fled the scene on a motorcycle along with Garcia. He later crashed, severely injuring himself, however, Garcia died in the crash. Ruiz has since been
released on bail.
