By BBN Staff: On Sunday afternoon, police in San Pedro conducted a search in the area and found 20 parcels of suspected cocaine.
The drugs were taken to the San Pedro Police Station and then transported to Belize City.
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams told the media yesterday that samples of the drugs were taken to the lab for confirmation.
After testing and confirmation are completed, authorities will destroy the drugs.
Williams assured the Belizean public that the amount of drug that was turned in and reported is exactly what was found on Sunday.
“ We are ensuring that we do everything that needs to be done to prevent any tampering of that suspected cocaine,” Williams said.
The drug was weighed at 46 pounds.
Williams commended the officers for the bust and says that the department maintains an operational presence in San Pedro.
